SBA Disaster Recovery Official to Speak at NSBA August Luncheon
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The North Springfield Betterment Association (NSBA) will host Raenada Mason, Public Information Officer with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience, as the featured speaker for its monthly luncheon on Thursday, August 14. The event will be held at Cox North’s Fountain Plaza Room (1423 N. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO 65802). Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch is served at 11:45, and the program starts promptly at noon. The event concludes at 1:00 p.m. Admission is $20, which includes the meal and the program.
Mason will provide updates on federal disaster loan programs available to Missouri homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofits following multiple severe weather events in 2025. There have been five disaster declarations in Missouri this year. Three major events—the April 29 storm, the May 16 tornado, and the June 29 storms—have resulted in more than $18 million in SBA disaster loans being approved across the state. Her presentation will cover eligibility, the application process, timelines, and how these funds support community and economic recovery.
“The SBA’s role after disaster strikes is to help individuals and businesses rebuild and recover,” Mason says. “We want people to know these resources are available—not just for businesses, but for homeowners, renters, landlords, and nonprofits too. Getting the word out is essential.”
Mason has served with the SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience since 2017. With a background in business management and a focus on public administration, she brings both strategic communication and operational insight to her work supporting disaster-impacted communities.
