Betterment
NSBA continues to encourage property development and beautification by awarding monthly Betterment Awards. Some version of this award has been given since our beginning, the NSBA board voted in 1993 to upgrade the award to a quality that would warrant public display by the recipient. Dr. John Laurie, then principal of Hillcrest High School, designed the plaque with personalized engraving and photograph. The Wal-Mart Supercenter on North Kansas Expressway received the first of these improved awards during the August 1993 general meeting. This plaque is still used today for the monthly presentation.
